The trading enterprise organizes the accounting of storage of goods in warehouses. The factors affecting the forms of work of warehouse services are: total area and technical characteristics of the stock; the location of the stock in relation to the trading enterprise as a whole and to the commercial premises; the frequency of commodities arriving; the number of sales in a certain period; natural characteristics of goods; compatibility of goods according to storage conditions; technical means of moving goods within the warehouse; the need to rework goods during storage; volume and range of items.

Depending on the listed factors, the method of storing commodities in the warehouse can be batch, varietal, batch-varietal, by name. The batch storage method means that each batch of goods arriving at the warehouse of a trading enterprise using one transport document is stored separately. This batch may include materials of various grades and names. This method is convenient to identify the timeliness of payment, sales by lots, surplus and shortage. However, leftovers of the same product or grade are stored in different locations if the materials are received in different lots. The storage area is used less economically. With the varietal method of storage, the stock space is used more economically, the operational management of the remainder of the commodities is carried out faster, however, it is laborious to separate the goods of the same variety, received at different prices. In the conditions of the batch-varietal method, each batch of items is stored separately. At the same time, within a batch, goods for storage are sorted by grade. This method is used in a wide range of stored items.

Who is the developer?

Depending on the degree of value of goods, their storage can be organized in the context of each item (products made of gold, platinum and other precious metals, precious stones, computers, expensive household appliances, cars). Accounting of the storage of goods is carried out by financially responsible persons with whom an agreement on material responsibility of the stored values has been signed. This can be a warehouse manager or a storekeeper. Material liability arises from the moment the received goods are posted to the warehouse on the basis of incoming shipping papers and continues until the documented disposal, transfer of commodities to other services of the trading enterprise or third-party organizations according to consumable documents.

Financially responsible persons keep records of receipts, movements within the warehouse and disposal of goods outside the warehouse, necessarily in kind, using the data of commodity receipts. Simultaneous maintenance and cost accounting is possible. A batch card is a statement of the receipt and disposal of goods received at the warehouse using one transport paper. It is kept in two copies. The batch card indicates: the number of the batch card; date of opening; number of the receipt document; name of the incoming trade paper; name of product; vendor code; grade; number of units (or mass); date of disposal of commodities; quantity of disposed commodities; number of the expense paper; date of closing the card upon complete disposal of the goods.
